Club Statement
The Kingsport area Volleyball Club (KVC) shall provide an opportunity for girls to develop their individual and team volleyball skills. Players shall have the opportunity to play alongside players of similar ability. Players shall have the opportunity to compete at the highest possible level. The Kingsport Volleyball Club is affiliated with the Southern Region of USA Volleyball, and offers opportunities to play on either travel or non-travel teams.
Levels of Participation
Travel Teams: Players who possess the skill level to play on competitive travel teams will be placed on a skill and age level appropriate team. Placement will be made after observation of the tryout process by the coaching staff (see “Tryouts” for more information). Travel teams will practice once during the week and once on the weekend, except for tournament weekends. Practices will be approximately two hours. Travel teams will play six tournament days, with a possibility of more. Teams which are planning to go to National Qualifiers may require additional practices. Parents and coaches of each team will determine tournament dates. Players must register with the Southern Region of USA Volleyball.
Non-Travel Teams: Players with a minimal skill level or unable to commit to the rigors of travel teams, may choose the option of non-travel teams. These teams will practice once weekly and may be able to participate in a local tournament. Practices will be approximately two hours. A non-travel player may be invited to play in a tournament with a travel team in need of a substitute player. Non-travel teams will typically be made up of players in grades 4-8, and will provide opportunities for fundamental skill development. Players must register with the Southern Region of USA Volleyball.
KYVB: Kingsport Youth Volleyball is an introductory experience in which players have fun while learning basic volleyball concepts. It is a recreational program offered to girls in grades 3-7. This spring league gives players an opportunity to participate in a skills clinic, and practice and play matches two nights per week. The league runs for six weeks and culminates with a Saturday tournament.
Tryouts
At completion of tryouts, the coaching committee will complete team rosters. Players will be placed according to:
Practices are designed to improve the skill level of every player; attendance is mandatory. Every attempt will be made to have consistent, regular scheduled practice times and sites. Coaches must be informed if it is necessary for a player to miss practice.
Tournaments will be scheduled at a Coach/Parent meeting after discussion and input from all parties. Six tournament days are provided based on club fees. Additional tournaments may be arranged at the team’s request, and at an additional fee. Player attendance is vital. While practices are designed to involve every player, there is no guarantee of tournament playing time.
KVC will attempt to enter one or more teams into the USAV Qualifier in Atlanta. Selection of teams/players and fees will be discussed as the season progresses.
KVC will have available a web site for purposes of information and communication. Check out tournament schedules, tournament results, team/player photos, practice schedules, KVC contacts and more.
